3 LATERAL RESTRAINTS FOR SPENT FUEL RACKS BROKEN A.
BACKGROUND The finding in March, 1975, of several broken seismic re-straint springs on the Unit 4 spent fuel racks led to the replacement of all Unit 4 springs and the inspection of the condition of Unit 3 springs.
As reported in Supple-mentary Report, No.
2 of August 5,
- 1975, damaged springs were also found on the Unit 3 spent fuel racks, and it was decided to replace all Unit 3 springs.
B.
CORRECTIVE ACTION All Unit 3 spent fuel rack seismic restraint springs have been replaced with new approved springs.
Replacement work conducted from above the spent fuel pool using remotely operated tools was completed on October 30, 1975.
All springs were changed and the new springs tensioned in accordance with procedures and engineering recommendations contained in Plant Change/Modification (PC/M) 75-20.
