7/30/2018 Re: Proposed Holtec/New Mexico Consolidated Interim Storage Facility (CISF) for spent nuclear fuel (High-Level Radioactive Waste) from nuclear power plants The long and troubling record of significant transportation/shipping accidents associated with U.S. energy sector operations calls for extreme precaution in this matter. Given the potential for CISF-related transportation/shipping to become associated with accidental high-consequence occurrences at relatively random and unprepared locations/regions throughout North America, a fundamentally different plan is necessary. Therefore, any proposed CISF is a non-starter, and real alternatives must be carefully explored as part of any review process.
