Dear Mr. Jordan:

I CP.

This letter confirms our telephone conversation of February 13 regarding our request for an extension'of time for submittal of a follow-up report on the viola'tion which >Ie reported to you on February, 7, 1975.

"'v"G'1Q 0I Illfvlv d the release Of >~ster froid ihe waste evaporator condensate tank without having carried out a sampling step required by the Environmental Technical Specifications (Section 2.4.2b).

Our investigation of this violation has led to a discovery that in the water releases which we have made to date, the quantity of boric acid exceeds the concentration limits set by Table.2-1 of our Env;ronmental Technical Specifications.

In addition to this, we are required in Table 4.2-1 of the Environmental Technical Specifications to carry out a lake water sampling program, "Every 4 weeks or 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
after a batch release."

We are sampling every 4 weeks, but if the Specification means each batch release, we have not being carrying out this step.

We will seek clarification of this requirement from the fluclear Regulatory Commission staff.

To determine the reasons for these violations and the corrective actions more time will be required, and we therefore ask for an extension of the time required to submit our report to you.'s a

course'of our telephone conversation, you agreedthat submission of this report on February 21, 1975 would be acceptable.

Yery truly yours, RSH kb cc:
