G. Keppler, Regional Director Gentlemen:

This letter supplements our letters of August 4, 1972, October 12, 1972, August 1, 1974 and.

October 22, 1974 to you which vere in response to your letter of June 29, 1972 vhich requested,-that ve provide acceptable documentation of conformance shoving that certain specified valves at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant met minimum wall thickness requirements.

Our letter of October 22, 1974- completed the requirements for all of the Unit 1 valves involved, a total of one hundred and forty-four. Our program for the 144 Unit 2 valves was progressing in accordance with our letters mentioned above until we were forced. to curtail construction of Unit 2 in November, 1974. Since then, our valve wall thickness program has not progressed rapidly enough to allow us to complete the Unit 2 portion by the required date, June 29, 1975.

The current status of the 144 Unit 2 valves needing verification of vali thickness is as follovs:

1. 121 valves have been ultrasonically tested and found. acceptable.
