APPROVAL OF REVISION 9 OF THE CHARTER FOR THE COMMITTEE TO REVIEW GENERIC REQUIREMENTS I have reviewed and approve Revision 9 of the Charter for the Committee to Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)
Accession No. ML17355A532). I appreciate CRGRs efforts to revise the charter in response to the Report of the Committee to Review Generic Requirements on its Assessment of the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Implementation of Backfitting and Issue Finality Requirements and Guidance, dated June 27, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17174B161).
The CRGR Charter updates reflect fact of life changes, enhance the committees role in certain backfitting activities, and add rigor to the committees annual and periodic assessments of agency backfitting. Additionally, administrative processes have been removed from the charter and placed in a separate standalone document entitled, Committee to Review Generic Requirements Procedures and Internal Administrative Process (ADAMS Accession No. ML17355A533). These modifications will support the CRGR mission to ensure that proposed generic backfitting is appropriately justified based on the backfit provisions of applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and the Commissions backfit policy.
