Dear Mr. McFadden:

This refers to an investigation conducted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Office of Investigations (OI) to determine whether a security officer at the G.E. Hitachi Independent Spent Fuel Facility in Morris, Illinois was discriminated against by management for raising safety concerns. Based on the evidence developed during the investigation, we did not substantiate the allegation. The synopsis from the OI Report of Investigation is enclosed.

OI SYNOPSIS This investigation was initiated on June 12, 2017, by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Investigations, Region III, to determine whether a security officer at the G.E. Hitachi Independent Spent Fuel Storage Facility (G.E. Morris) in Morris, Illinois, was discriminated against by management for raising safety concerns.

Based on the evidence developed, the allegation that a security officer at G.E. Morris was discriminated against by management for raising safety concerns was not substantiated.
