D Temporary Job Site Inspection PROGRAM SCOPE This was an unannounced, routine inspection of a coal mine in Francisco and Oakland City, Indiana. The licensee possessed one specifically-licensed Gamma-Metrics Model 2000 gauge at the Oakland City location and three generally licensed Texas Nuclear Model 5201 gauges at the Francisco location.
The licensee was authorized to possess specifically licensed fixed gauges used in the processing of coal. Currently, one individual was involved with the use and oversight of the devices. The licensee hired the fixed gauge manufacturer to perform services such as removing and relocating the fixed gauge. Performance Observations The inspector toured the plant facilities and observed the location of the cesium-137 gauge. The inspector interviewed plant workers and determined that workers understood the proper emergency lock-out/tag-out procedures.
The inspector observed the postings for the gauge. All postings were legible. The inspector performed independent radiation measurements of the fixed gauge and did not identify any readings above regulatory compliance.
The inspector reviewed in office the following records: gauge inventories, annual audits, leak tests, and shutter checks with no issues noted. No violations ofNRC requirements were identified as a result of this inspection.
