COMMENT (251)

PUBLICATION DATE:

3/30/2018 CITATION# 83 FR 13802 I'm expressing my concern for this repository for the most basic reason, that of the nature of mankind's fallibility.

The issue of safety is constructed by those hired to have a vested interest in this containment procedure. And although they are most likely exemplary citizens of the nuclear field, they are vetted to be more inclined to a belief about nuclear repository based on the entities paying them to perform. It makes for a very strong, one-sided agenda. And that is a danger.

This "short-term" solution (a misleading statement for sure, as the short-term means up to 300 years, plus) is wrought with unknowns about our future of which no one can predict. Reposition of high-level containers in an area of scarce water supply, in land of karst and caves, then expecting that nothing will possibly go wrong in the unforeseeable future is folly.

This is vanity playing poker with humanity.

Please do not place us in this high-stakes game.
