- Hello, I am very worried about the storage system being designed to last only 40 years, and about the thinly walled canisters being used for this horrifically toxic material. PLEASE make sure the underground vaults are large enough to allow for a second enclosing cask, and PLEASE make sure the system meets the HELMS criteria, including a 1,000-year design life, 24/7 monitoring, and plans for a hardened facility.
