[External_Sender] Comments re: TVA Clinch River SMR ESP DEIS - Docket ID NRC-2016-0119

Dear NRC Staff,

My dream one day is to become a Solar Engineer. I am currently going to college to start the process with photovoltaic installation. I am completely convinced that not just with solar, there are too many natural resources that can substitute this current experiment with new technology. If Bill Gates, Tesla, Buffet are jumping on the solar train and NASA completely dependent on solar in space..... is there a secret some know others don't?.... indeed there is.... to many humans not enough natural resources. Thanks for taking the time to read my worthless two cents M.C. PS: I am very concerned about TVAs early site permit application for small modular reactors at the Clinch River Site in Tennessee. TVA doesnt need more supply. The NRC should evaluate the costs of SMRs in comparison to other energy choices, such as wind and solar, including energy efficiency and conservation.

A comparison of the impacts on our water resources, including water quality and water supply of both surface and groundwater, should also be done by the NRC for SMRs and these other energy choices.

Last, I request that the NRC reject TVAs effort to reduce the emergency planning zone from 10-miles to 2 miles or less.

Should an accident ever occur at the Clinch River Site, the NRC should provide the public with a detailed analysis of how many members of the public could be harmed if these changes in the safety radius are implemented. The safety of our communities should be the NRCs top concern, not the ability for utilities to pursue an experimental technology that is not needed.

Thank you.

Sincerely, Markecia Corum 4010 S Davy Crockett Pkwy Morristown, TN 37813-3125 mlcorum734@gmail.com 1
