Dear NRC Staff,
As a TVA customer, I am very concerned about TVAs early site permit application for small modular reactors at the Clinch River Site in Tennessee. TVA doesnt need more supply. The NRC should evaluate the costs of SMRs in comparison to other energy choices, such as wind and solar, including energy efficiency and conservation.
Please consider ALL of the costs of this project and all of the potential costs that just one accident could induce. Think in terms of the future of our children, and not in terms of the pocket books of business people. Our future depends on renewable energy, energy efficiency. Please, make this decision from the center of your heart.
Last, I request that the NRC reject TVAs effort to reduce the emergency planning zone from 10-miles to 2 miles or less.
Should an accident ever occur at the Clinch River Site, the NRC should provide the public with a detailed analysis of how many members of the public could be harmed if these changes in the safety radius are implemented. The safety of our communities should be the NRCs top concern, not the ability for utilities to pursue an experimental technology that is in no way needed.
