IE CIRCULAR NO. 76-01
Reference:
- Letter, R.H. Engelken to J.J.
- Stein, same subject, 7-28-..76'ear Mr. Engelken:
The referenced letter transmitted IE Circular No. 76-01.
In response to the questions asked in the circular, the manufacturer of our reactor building crane (Whiting Corporation) was asked to review their design for applicability to IE Circular No. 76-01.
The crane for WPPSS Nuclear Project No.
2 has AC control and AC Brakes compared to the DC brakes addressed in IE Circular 76-01.
This crane does not have the same type contactor which caused the problem referred to and therefore the WNP-2 crane design is not affected by this situation.
Whiting Corporation has made a review of the design and assures us of the design adequacy of the crane as provided.
No modifications are planned to add slow speed capability.
In addition, a field test is planned to assure that the brake power contactors are adequate for service.
Very truly yours,
