OF JUNE 19, 2018, PUBLIC MEETING WITH INDUSTRIAL NUCLEAR COMPANY TO DISCUSS THE PLANNED PAYLOADS AND TO PRESENT TESTING RESULTS FOR THE NEW TEN HOLE SOURCE CHANGER PACKAGE
Background
This was a category 1 public meeting between Industrial Nuclear Company (INC), and the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to discuss INCs proposed ten hole source changer package. Regulatory commitments were not made at the meeting. INC provided presentation slides prior to the meeting. The meeting presentation slides are attached as Enclosure 3.
MEETING
SUMMARY
On June 19, 2018, NRC staff held a public meeting with INC representatives at the NRCs One White Flint North Building in Rockville, Maryland. The list of meeting attendees is Enclosure 1.
The discussion followed the agenda provided in Enclosure 2.
After introductions and opening remarks, INC staff presented the drop test results for their new package design. Using the presentation slides provided in Enclosure 3, INC staff described the package, the materials of construction, the proposed contents, the drop test results, and the shield integrity verification results. During the presentation, NRC staff asked about the use of instrumentation in the drop tests, INC responded instrumentation was not used. After INC completed its presentation, the meeting was adjourned.
