NRC Staff Feedback from June 13, 2018, Boiling Water Reactor Vessel and Internals Project Integrated Surveillance Program and Subsequent License Renewal Public Meeting A takeaway action from the June 13, 2018, Boiling Water Reactor Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP) Integrated Surveillance Program (ISP) and Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) public meeting was for the NRC staff to collect feedback on Electric Power Research Institutes presentation. The following feedback is provided:
The following is the feedback from the NRC staff:
Topic - Smaller Specimen Insert Sizes, below18 mm minimum o It would be helpful for the BWRVIP to provide as much detail and the strongest basis that supports using the smaller insert sizes in the ISP for SLR. Since the testing of the specimens wont occur till much later when it is known which licensees will pursue SLR - having confidence that using the smaller insert sizes is acceptable is important.
o Some type of matrix of the insert sizes/heats would be helpful - Page 32 of the presentation had this information in bullet form - but reading the information in a table/matrix form would be helpful.
Topic - Neutron Flux o NRC nuclear physics staff did a cursory look at presentation and did not have any comment but plan to take a closer look. If NRC staff has any more feedback we will provide it to the BWRVIP.
