Dear Mr. Stolz:
'Enclosed are forty (40) copies of a report entitled "Report of the Review Panel on..tha December 14, 1872 Earthquake".
This report provides the results of an extensive investigation into'lie sis'e and location of this historic earthquake.
Five utilities (Portland General Electric Company, Pacific Power
& Light Company, Puget Sound Power
& Light Company, Washington Public Power Supply System, and Washington Water Power Company)
.jointly sponsored the independent panel of consultants that prepared the report.
The utilities sponsored this effort to provide a common and definitive study of this earthquake for use in evaluating power -plant design.
Conse-quently this report will be incorporated in existing and future nuclear plant applications submitted to the Nuclear.,Regulatory Commission.
- However, as the purpose of the report is only to determine the size and location of the earthquake, application of the results of the report to applicable sites will be done in the application for those sites.
The independent panel that prepared this report had the opportunity to consider reports prepared by individual sponsors.
As these other reports are not part of the joint sponsors
- program, the individual reports are being supplied, for your. information and.use under separate cover by the utilities involved.
