U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Public Scoping Meeting and Teleconference request Mr. Parsons, My name is Nancy Martinez and I am an environmental reviewer at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The NRC is conducting a review of the environmental effects of renewing the operating licenses for Turkey Point Nuclear Plant, Units 3 and 4. Florida Power & Light submitted an application for the subsequent renewal of Turkey Point Nuclear Plant, Units 3 and 4 operating licenses. In accordance with 36 CFR 800.8(c), the NRC intends to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, through the National Environment Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), as amended, process.

As mentioned in a letter dated May 24, 2018 to the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources (a copy of the letter is attached), the NRC plans to hold two public environmental scoping meetings on May 31, 2018 at Homestead City Hall, 100 Civic Court, Homestead, FL 33030. The first meeting will begin with an open house at 12:00 1

p.m., followed by an NRC staff presentation and opportunity to hear public comments at 1:00 p.m. Similarly, the second meeting will begin with an open house at 4:00 p.m., followed by an NRC staff presentation and opportunity to hear public comments at 5:00 p.m.

Further, we would like to schedule a conference call with you and/or your staff to introduce ourselves and discuss any questions you may have regarding the proposed action, NRCs approach to conducting the Section 106 NEPA review, and any associated issues, concerns, or expectations you may have. Please let me know when you are available (date(s)/time(s)) to have a teleconference and I will provide the call-in information.
