[External_Sender] USNRC docket #72-1051 I have concerns about all that is going on at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant even now that it is shut down. The design life of the storage system is too short and the canisters are not sturdy enough. The underground vaults are not big enough to allow for a second enclosing canister if necessary in the future. In particular since it is not going any where anytime soon. With global warming and sea level rise, why are you storing the spent fuel so close to the ocean and near current sea level?
Why isn't there 24/7 monitoring of radiation? If it is unsafe to move the fuel how can it be safe to store it in this densely populated area?
Will you please answer my questions?
As far as the citizens advisory committee is concerned, it is not doing its job. The meetings are poorly attended for many reasons: 1.They are not adequately advertised; the average person does not know about them. 2. They start at 5:30 when most people are either on they way home from work or about to eat dinner. 3. They don't listen to or respect the public's input.
Sincerely, Wendy Morris San Clemente
