VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT UNITS 3 AND 4 ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENTS (LAR 18-003) RE: CHANGE TO BATTERY CHARGER OUTPUT AMP VALUE IN TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION SR 3.8.1.2 AND THE SURVEILLANCE FREQUENCY FOR SR 3.8.7.6 (EPID NO. L-2018-LLA-0017)
Dear Mr. Whitley:
In response to your application dated January 31, 2018, as supplemented by letters dated April 25, 2018 and June 21, 2018 the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment Nos. 135 and 134 to Combined Licenses (COL) Nos. NPF-91 and NPF-92 for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 3 and 4, respectively. The amendments consist of departures from the COL Appendix A, Technical Specifications.
The amendment makes changes to revise COL Appendix A, Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.8.1.2, to identify that the required minimum ampere output for the battery charges is 150 amps. Additionally, the amendment makes changes to revise COL Appendix A SR 3.8.7.6 to align test frequency with expected life of the AP 1000 Class 1E batteries.
A copy of the related Safety Evaluation, which includes the evaluation of the amendment, is also enclosed. The notice of issuance of the amendment documents included in this letter will be published in the Federal Register.
