- June 11, 2018 DPG 18-113 ATTN: Document Control Desk Director, Division of Spent Fuel Management Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 Rancho Seco Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Materials License No. SNM-2510 Docket 72-11 Powering forward. Together.
RANCHO SECO ISFSI FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT UPDATE Attention: William Allen This letter serves as the 24-month update of the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) for the Rancho Seco Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) as required by 10 CFR 72.70(c)(6).
On June 29, 2016, Revision 5 to the Rancho Seco ISFSI FSAR was submitted. _Since the date of the last Final Safety Analysis Report update (6/29/16), two changes have occurred at the facility that required the ISFSI SAR to be updated.
ISFSI SAR, Revision 6 was completed to correct errors in Footers, Table of Content, List of Effective Pages, and Page and Section numbers that were identified while preparing a consolidated ISFSI SAR for submittal to the NRC in support of the AREV A/WCS Consolidated Interim Storage ISFSI Application.
ISFSI SAR, Revision 7 incorporates the requirements of SNM-2510, Amendment 4 which was approved by the NRC on November 24, 2017. This amendment allows the continued use of a radioactive check source originally incorporated into the Part 50 license under the Part 72 license. This action was requested by SMUD to allow termination of the Part 50 license. The proposed changes to the ISFSI SAR in Revision 7 were reviewed and approved by the NRC in association with License Amendment 4.
No safety evaluations performed in accordance with 10 CFR 72.48 identified the need to update the ISFSI FSAR.
