[External_Sender] Clinch River Nuclear Site Attn: Fleicia Keith & Vivian Mills of NRC Office : April 30th, 2018 The historic site of the former CRBRP is a beautiful 850 acre greenfield (characterized as free of contamination ) largely healed over the past 35 years from excavations done at that time. Areas of the site left to naturally regenerate are now covered by forests of trees approaching 50 feet tall and 12" in diameter or larger. And wildlife has returned in numbers to the extent that the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in cooperation with TVA conducts permitted spring wild turkey hunting and deer hunting each fall. It is also a vital part of the greater Oak Ridge Reservation environmental research park.

As responsible stewards of our public resources, site selection should be made from literally dozens of brownfield fossil (both decommissioned and active ) and nuclear candidate sites throughout this region of the United States if not right on the Oak Ridge Reservation such as the S-50 area.

Consider that literally billions of dollars are being spent to cleanup nuclear and decommissioned fossil fuel sites that are clearly candidates for this SMR development project. All of theses candidate sites have the requisite infrastructure and historic use compliance zones thus saving additional millions of dollars.

Considering staggering costs of dealing with the legacy of nuclear and fossil sites the last thing needed is using a greenfield for creation of another, when their are so many existing brownfield alternatives and options.

What other sites are available within TVA and DOE/NRC and what are the criteria being used to asses their acceptability ?

Please direct my questions and concerns to the following:

AMuniz NRC,

MSutton, NRO MHart, NRO MDudek, NRO JAnderson, NSIR DBarss, NSIR BMusico, NSIR and AFetter, NRC

2 Please keep me posted of dates when personnel are doing potential site selection filed tours ? Also let me know of any scheduled public meetings planned for Oak Ridge, TN

?
