Feedback on draft RAI response: RAI 17-037-6 Neil et al. -

For SNCs draft response to RAI 17-037-6 provided to NRC on May 22, (ML18142B923), which discusses a proposed commitment, the staff would like clarification on the following items, to be discussed at the Friday public meeting:

• For the proposed edit to Enclosure 1, SNC saying that it would provide the detailed guidance is not clear. It could be interpreted that SNC will submit the guidance to NRC. This should be edited so that it is clear that SNC means it proposes to develop, implement, and maintain the guidance, but not submit it.

• For the proposed new commitment to go into Enclosure 8, the commitment could be interpreted as though developing the procedure was a one-time action, with no obligation to maintain the procedure over the long-term. Therefore, the commitment should be edited so that it is clear that the procedure containing the provisions in the guidance will remain in effect as long as the license condition is in effect.
