We discussed discrepancies in model documentation and simulations documented in the staffs TER with NYSERDA and its contractors yesterday. I wanted to provide specific examples to clarify. For example, in Appendix H6, the consumption rates for fruits/nonleafy and leafy vegetables for Area 4 are listed as 165 kg/yr and 118 kg/yr, respectively (see screen shot below), which is consistent with Appendix D survey data from SNI (see page 17). The same statement applies for Appendix H7 for Area 5 as well. Appendix H6 and Appendix H7 document RESRAD OFFSITE input parameters which differ from RESRAD OFFSITE defaults. However, the actual RESRAD OFFSITE simulations for Areas 4 and 5 appear to use values of 82.6 (fruits/non-leafy) and 59 (leafy) kg/yr (see example screen shot below).
So the values used in the simulations do not appear to be consistent with Appendix D (page 17) survey data provided by SNI and the values listed in Appendix H6 and H7. It was unclear in the documentation if this was intentional (e.g., assumed that 50 percent of the fruits and vegetables came from non-contaminated sources).
Let me know if this clears the comments up, or if NYSERDA needs additional information.
