SURRY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 INSERVICE TESTING (IST) PROGRAM RELIEF REQUESTS (TAC NOS. M83167 AND M83168)
The purpose of this letter is to grant relief from verification of full-open and closed positions for certain check valves for the low head pump and high head pump injection systems as required by the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, Subsection IWV, "Inservice Testing Program."
As described in the enclosed Safety Evaluation, the NRC staff has reviewed your submittal and for some of the valves at issue relief is granted pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a (f)(6)(i). For other valves at issue, use of your proposed alternatives is authorized pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(i). With respect to this relief request, the staff has determined that the relief granted is authorized by law and wi 11 not endanger life or property or the commori defense..
