License Nos.92-501 RO 50-280 50-281 DPR-32 DPR-37 In a letter dated July 17, 1992, the NRC requested additional information on the Surry Individual Plant Examination (IPE) regarding resolution of Generic Issue Gl-23, "Reactor Coolant Pump Seal Failures." In a telephone conversation between Mr. B. C.
Buckley, the NRC Project Manager, and a member of my staff, we requested and were granted additional time to prepare our response to this request.
The additional preparation time was requested to ensure that Station Blackout, lnservice Inspection, and other issues related to reactor coolant pump seals are more thoroughly addressed. A secondary reason for requesting the additional time is that the same personnel preparing this response are also actively involved in meeting the schedule for preparation of the North Anna IPE report.
As agreed to in the August 18, 1992 conversation, we will provide the response to your request for additional information by September 24, 1992.
