SUBJECT:
SURRY REQUALIFICATION EXAMINATION REPORT - 50~280/0L-90-02 The NRC administered examinations during the weeks of September 17 and September 24, 1990, to employees of your company who currently hold licenses to operate the Surry Power Station. At the conclusion of the site visit, preliminary findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the Examination Report, Enclosure 1.
Your attention is directed to the observations made concerning the facility and its training program in Section 3 of this enclosure.
Please provide your plans for addressing these items.
Your written response is requested within 30 days of the date of this letter. Copies of the written examinations and answer keys are included in this report as Enclosure 2.
A Requalification Program Evaluation is included as Enclosure 3. This Evaluation Report finds that the Surry Power Station requalification program remains satisfactory based upon performance of the licensed operators on this examination.
Included in this evaluation are any identified operator weaknesses or program areas needing improvement.
These cpncerns have been discussed with your training staff. A Simulation Facility Fidelity Report is provided in this report as Enclosure 4.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a} of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
The responses requested by this letter and its enclosures are not subject to the clearance procedures of the. Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Redcuction Act of 1980, Pub. L. No.96-511.
