VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON PROGRAM PLAN SUBMITTAL In a telephone conference call between your staff and Mr. D. Fortin of my staff to discuss our augmented inspection program, additional information was requested to complete your review.
As discussed, the following augmented inspection requirements are included in our program plan:

Regulatory Guide 1.150:
Westinghouse Electric Corporation performs the examinations on our reactor vessels. Westinghouse has based their examination program on Appendix A of USNRC Regulatory Guide 1.150 Revision 1, "Ultrasonic Testing of Reactor Vessel Welds During Preservice and lnservice Examinations." Appendix A has been adopted by the Electric Power Research Institute Ad Hoc Committee as an acceptable approach to the positions recommended in the base document. Westinghouse complies with the requirements of USN RC Regulatory Guide 1.150, Revision 1, Appendix A with the exception of paragraph 7.a.
This exception is subject to withdrawal as new techniques, procedures, and equipment for reflector sizing are assessed with the intent of providing a quantitative database for estimating the tolerances in sizing the flaw.

Regulatory Guide 1.14:
Virginia Electric and Power Company performs routine examinations of the reactor coolant pump flywheels. The examinations meet the intent of the provisions outlined in USNRC Regulatory Guide 1.14 "Reactor Coolant Pump Flywheel Integrity."

Sensitized Stainless Steel:
Virginia Electric and Power Company performs routine examinations of those portions of sensitized stainless steel outlined by Section H of Table 4.2-1 of the Surry Technical Specifications.

High Energy Lines:
Virginia Electric and Power Company performs routine examinations of those portions of high energy lines outlined by Section 4.15 of the Surry Technical Specifications.
