License Nos.89-097 50-280 50-281 DPR-32 DPR-37 Two additional Emergency Notification System (ENS) extensions are requested for the Surry Power Station Technical Support Center (TSC).
Presently, there is only one ENS telephone extension in the TSC located in the office used by the NRC.
The TSC Emergency Communicator must use this* *extension to per.form his duties in communicating with off-site NRC personnel. This location limits the Communicator's overview of TSC activities while communicating, and preempts ENS telephone usage by the on-site NRC personnel.
We recommend that an additional ENS extension be provided for the TSC Emergency Communicator.
Additionally, we recommend a third ENS extension be provided for the Station Emergency Manager (SEM) for any required communications with the NRC.
We consider placement of an ENS telephone at his location to be prudent considering the likelihood the SEM will be requested to address NRC questions during an emergency.
In summary, we recommend and request that two additional ENS extensions be provided to the _TSC.
