SUBJECT:
NRC CONFIRMATORY MEASUREMENTS PROGRAM As part of the NRC Confirmatory Measurements Program and to address an inspector followup item identified in Inspection Report 50-280/93-19 and 50-281/93-19, liquid samples spiked with alpha emitting radionuclides will be sent to the Surry facility for analysis.
The spiked samples were prepared by the Department of Energy's Radiological and Environmental Sciences Laboratory.
These samples are to be analyzed for gross alpha concentrations in accordance with your -approved procedures for analysis of liquid waste samples.
We request that the analyses be completed as soon as practicable, preferably during the week of the onsite inspection scheduled for December 6-10, 1993.
Results should be sent to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region II, ATTN: Mr. T. R. Decker, 101 Marietta Street, Suite 2900, Atlanta, GA 30323.
Our evaluation of your results will be discussed with your staff and transmitted by inspection report.
