Innsbrook Technical Center 5000 Dominion Boule1*ard Gle11 Allen. Virll,i11ia 23060 VIRGINIA POWER Due to complications with our investigation of the fuel oil release of May 9, 1994, at SUrry Power station, we requested am. received a sixty-day extension far sul:mittal of the Initial Abatement Report. '!he extension also applied to the Site Olara.cterization Report (SCR), whim was originally due July 8, 1994.
We have made plans to install nDnitoring wells as the initial part of the SCR; however, due to nuclear-related activities in the vicinity of the fuel oil lines, we will not be able to begin drilling until approxilllately August 31, 1994. 'Ihe station recently canpleted a maintenance outage on Unit 2 during which they produced radioactive waste material.
'!he station is currently processing the radioactive material am has prcx::essing equipnent installed in the yard area near the fuel oil lines.
'!he waste processing equipnent is blocking acx:ess far the drilling rig. 'lhus, we request another 60 day extension far the sul:mittal of the SCR.
