50-280 License No. DPR-32 Currently, the lnservice Inspection Program for Surry Unit 1 meets the requirements of ASME Section XI, 1989 Edition. Regulatory Guide 1.147, "lnservice Inspection Code Case Acceptability ASME Section XI Division 1," dated July 1993 has listed as acceptable for use Code Case N-489, "Alternative Rules for Level Ill NOE Qualification ExaminationsSection XI, Division 1." This letter serves as notification that the lnservice Inspection Program at Surry Unit 1 will use this Code Case. Use of this case will allow the "Basic" examination to be taken only once, and require the Level Ill candidate successfully complete a Level II Practical Examination for each method for which certification is sought.
