PLANT PERFORMANCE REVIEW - SURRY
Dear Mr. O'Hanlon:
On March 16, 1995, NRC managers met to review recent performance at the Surry facility to determine if our present planned inspection effort for the remaining SALP cycle should be revised before its end date of August 3, 1996.
The purpose of this letter is to advise you of the results of that review.
For your Surry facility we noted that challenges exist in maintenance relative to human performance and equipment aging.
We are planning additional maintenance observation and balance of plant inspections.
We also noted that additional activities for the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Facility (ISFSI) will be performed.
Additional inspection will be conducted relative to construction, security and fuel transfer for the ISFSI.
The enclosure is a list of planned inspection activities for the remainder of the SALP cycle.
It is our intent to continue semiannual performance reviews in addition to SALP and advise you of the results.
Please understand that the planned actions _and dates are subject to change.
We will verbally communicate changes as each activity approaches.
