EXEMPTION REQUEST FOR APPENDIX J ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA 95-206 RO 50-280 50-281 50-338 50-339 DPR-32 DPR-37 NPF-4 NPF-7 In a March 1, 1993 submittal (Serial No.93-715), Virginia Electric and Power Company requested a permanent exemption from the requirements of 1 OCRF50 Appendix J Section III.A.5(b)(2). This section requires the leakage rate Lam to be less than 0.75 La (where La equal 1.0 weight percent per 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> at calculated peak containment pressure). Because the requirement does not distinguish between the "as-found" and "as-left" leakage rates, we had requested an exemption that would establish an "as-found" acceptance criterion of 1.0 La and an "as-left" acceptance criteria of 0.75 La.
Subsequent to our submittal, the NRC proposed a revision to Appendix J that will eliminate the need for clarification of the "as-found" and "as-left" acceptance criteria.
Therefore, pending issuance of the revision to Appendix J, Virginia Electric and Power Company withdraws the exemption request of March 1, 1993.
