License Nos.98-020 R1 50-280/-281 DPR-32/-37 RESCHEDULING OF APPENDIX R PROGRAM MUL Tl-UTILITY ASSESSMENT Virginia Electric and Power Company (Virginia Power) identified two 1 OCFR50 Appendix R issues affecting the vital buses, a vital bus isolation issue and a breaker coordination issue, in an August 27, 1997 letter (Serial No.97-464). A subsequent Licensee Event Report (Report No. 50-280, 50-281/97-007-00, dated October 30, 1997) discussed the vital bus isolation issue and stated that a multi-utility assessment of the Appendix R program was tentatively scheduled for late January 1998. This multi-utility assessment was also discussed at a predecisional enforcement conference on December 4, 1997.
This letter is to inform you that due to preparation and scheduling difficulties, the multi-utility assessment of the Appendix R program can not be accomplished as previously scheduled. Based on the A/E Design Inspection, which is scheduled for mid February 1998 through the end of March 1998, we intend to reschedule the Appendix R program assessment for April 1998. We continue to consider this assessment as an integral part of our corrective actions to resolve the Appendix R issues.
