VITAL BUS ISOLATION AND BREAKER COORDINATION ISSUES 97-745A RO 50-280 50-281 DPR-32 DPR-37 Our January 20, 1998 response letter to Inspection Report 50-280, 50-281/97-09 (Serial No.97-745) stated that the modifications necessary to address the vital bus isolation and breaker coordination issues were completed on Unit 2 during the October 1997 refueling outage.

Our letter also stated that the modifications were planned to be completed on Unit 1 during the next refueling outage, scheduled to begin in October 1998. - We indicated that the compensatory measures would remain in place until the modifications are completed.

Subsequent to transmittal of the January 20, 1998 letter, a Unit 1 maintenance outage has been planned and is scheduled to begin on March 20, 1998. The scope for this outage includes the modifications to correct the vital bus isolation and breaker coordination issues.

The purpose of this letter is to advise you that, assuming completion of the modifications during the Unit 1 maintenance outage, the compensatory measures will no longer be necessary and will be relaxed following the outage.
