VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 GENERIC SAFETY ISSUE (GSI) 165-SPRING-ACTUATED SAFETY AND RELIEF VALVE RELIABILITY REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION In a May 29, 1998 letter, the NRC requested Virginia Electric and Power Company to provide data for certain valves located in the Low Head Safety Injection System and the Emergency Diesel Generator air supply system. The information is required to support the NRC's resolution of GSl-165 which addresses whether failures of spring-actuated relief valves in safety-related support systems have the potential to cause substantial increases in plant core damage frequency. The requested valve information, where available, is provided in the attachment.
