NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-280/98-201 AND 50-281/98-201
,98-3008 R3 50-280 50-281 DPR-32 DPR-37 SURRY PLANT DESIGN INSPECTION CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN REVISION In our response to Inspection Report No. 50-280/98-201 and 50-281/98-201 (Serial No.98-300) dated July 9, 1998, we stated that the following action items would be completed as indicated below:
Programmatic Issues, Calculation Program
- 1. Cable ampacity calculations to verify cable sizing will be completed by December 1, 1998.
- 2. Calculations to demonstrate that the penetration circuits are within design limits will be completed by December 1, 1998.
- 3. A study of the calculation* control program to determine if further changes are necessary to enhance the users ability to determine the status of calculations will be completed, and any changes to the program will be incorporated, by January 31, 1999.
Although these items are being actively pursued, it has been determined that additional time will be required for their completion. The revised completion dates for items 1 and 2 above are April 1, 1999, and December 31, 1998, respectively. Regarding item 1, the ongoing effort to create cable ampacity calculations has been further subdivided into phases.
Initial efforts will focus on reconstituting the original cable ampacity sizing methodology for the plant, as well as applying that methodology to the specific cables previously evaluated by the NRC inspectors during the design engineering inspection in March 1998. This is the activity that will be completed by April 1, 1999. Follow-up 9812040060 981130 PDR ADOCK OS000280 G
