SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING On May 24, 2018 at 5:30 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Muddy Run Visitor Center in Holtwood, Pennsylvania. The NRC conducted the Annual Assessment Meeting to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS), Units 2 and 3 for 2017.

A notice of the open house was issued on May 4, 2018, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Webpage. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML18100A211. ADAMS is accessible from the NRCs website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC displayed poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2017, as documented in our Annual Assessment Letter dated February 28, 2018, (ADAMS Accession No. ML18047A006). The NRC poster boards included background information on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) and plant-specific performance. Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of PBAPS Units 2 and 3, can be found on the NRC's website at https://www.nrc.gov/reactors/operating/oversight.html.

Members of the public, a state official, and Exelon officials attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding PBAPSs performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
