,,the SUrry Pow'er Station 10 CFR 50 Appendix R Report.
Exemption Request #15, entitled "Establishing letdown - Using Non-Shift Personnel 11, is contained in Chapter 7 of this report.
'!he exemption request relies upon non-shift operations :personnel being available to establish letdown.
Virginia Electric and Pow'er Company is withdrawing this request for exemption based on the results of further study and evaluation discussed below.
We have detennined that sufficient tllll.e and :personnel exist, after stable hot shutdown is reached and the postulated fire is extinguished, for on-shift
- personnel to initiate letdown by valve lineups and other related activities if non-shift operations :personnel are not available.
This is based on the fact that letdown will not be necessary for at least 10 hours1.157407e-4 days <br />0.00278 hours <br />1.653439e-5 weeks <br />3.805e-6 months <br /> after a postulated fire discove:cy and unit trip.
Procedures are being revised to acconunodate this changed approach.
Exemption Request #15 will be removed from the SUrry Appendix R Report at its next annual update, currently due in Spring 1988.
