VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 PROPOSED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS CHANGE ADDITIONAL SMOKE DETECTORS IN AUXILIARY BUILDING Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.90, the Virginia Electric and Power Company requests amendments, in the form of changes to the Technical Specifications, to Operating License Nos. DPR-32 and DPR-37 for Surry Power Station Units 1 and 2, respectively .. The change (Attachment 1) revises Table 3.21-1 to increase from 12 to 14 the number of general area smoke detectors in the auxiliary building.

This request has been reviewed by the Station Nuclear Safety and Operating Committee and the Safety Evaluation and Control staff to determine whether an unreviewed safety question (10 CFR 50.59) or a significant hazards consideration (10 CFR 50.92) exists. Our basis for determining that no significant hazards consideration exists is contained in Attachment 2.

We have evaluated this request in accordance with the criteria in 10 CFR 170.

A voucher check in the amount of $150.00 is enclosed as an application fee.
