UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 May 25, 2018 Mr. Robin DeLaBarre Office of Nuclear Energy, Safety
& Security, Room 33200 HST Bureau of International Security
& Nonprollferation U.S. Department of State 2201 C Street. NW Washington, DC 20520
Dear Mr. DeLaBarre:
Enclosed is an application, dated March 30, 2018, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC),from Schlumberger Technology, requesting an amendment to its existing license, PXB139.03. The license presently authorizes the licensee to export Category 2 quantities of Am-241/Be, Cs-137, Cf-252, and Na-22 used in gas and oil exploration in Iraq.
Since Iraq is on the embargoed destinations list (110.28), before taking action on this new request, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the requested export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954oas amended.
