INCOMING 0 OUTGOING At approximately 12:15 P.M. on May 25, 2018 Chris Allen of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission called Bill Ransohoffto discuss a request in his letter, dated May 7, 2018 (ML18127B735) regarding axial shielding requirements for the Model No. NPI-20WC-6 Midi. Chris Allen explained that, because the safety evaluation report text referenced in the May 7th transmittal letter was not incorporated into the certificate, Neutron Products was not required to implement the axial shielding discussed in the safety evaluation report, and that the NRC must evaluate the necessity of this axial shielding as part of an amendment to the certificate. Bill Ransohoff decided that, since the cost and operational burden imposed by implementing the axial shielding was not excessive, incorporating the safety evaluation text into the certificate would be the most expeditious resolution for this issue. The call concluded at approximately 12:30 P.M.
