NM, Email: zapityzap@yahoo.com General Comment Reasons For and Against the "Temporary" Nuclear Disposal Site in New Mexico

1. The state would have to assume the site is permanent because there is no other site in development at this time.
2. There are risks to the water supplies.
3. There are risks for the dairy and oil industries.
4. There are risks of accidents at the site.
5. There are risks in transporting this dangerous material.
6. There are risks for the employees at the site.
7. New Mexico is a dumping grounds for projects such as this because we are a low populated state with wide open space. Politically it is difficult to stop projects like this.

If the project goes forward:

1. All property owners who want to sell, within 100 miles radius of the site, should be compensated at 10 times the current property value.
2. For every rod that is transported into the state to be "temporarily" stored, the state should be compensated an amount, such as $10 million per year. This money could be then used to fully fund Lottery scholarships for all New Mexican college students, for early childhood education, and education, in general.
3. All employees at the site will be compensated at least $200 per hour plus full benefits including a generous defined benefit retirement plan.

4. If benefits, such as these, are not negotiated and agreed to, the state will reject the project from going forward.
