URGING THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION TO EXPEDITE HEARINGS ON FLORIDA POWER 8 LIGHT COMPANY'S ST. LUCZE UNIT $ 2 NUCLEAR PLANT TO PREVENT CONTINUED UNEMPLOYMENT OF HUNDREDS OF WORKERS IN THIS AREA WHICH IS BESIEGED BY THE HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, IN THE STATE..

WHEREAS, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission required hearings to be held on September 8, 9 and 10, 1976,. to consider alternate sites fox'ts St. Lucie Unit 82 nucleax plant; and WHEREAS', the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has cancelled those hearing dates and has nut estabLished new dates on December,  !

1, 2 and 3; 1976; and WHEREAS, the Fedex'al Courts on October 22, 1976, issued an injunction halting all work on Unit 82 pending the outcome of these hearings, thus foxcing hundxeds of workers to become unemployed in an area already besieged by the highest unemployment rate in the Statei NOW< THEREFORE, BE ZT RESOLVED By the City Commission of the City of Fort Pierce, Florida, that this Commission petitions the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to expedite these hearings,.and if approval is merited, to expedite the construction permit at the earliest possible date in December, 1976, to reduce the unemployment rate in this area.

BE ZT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall become '-

effective upon its adoption.
