License Nos.85-571 50-280 50-281 DPR-32 DPR-37 Pursuant to 10CFR50. 90, Virginia Electric and Power Company requests an amendment, in the form of changes to the Technical Specifications, to Operating License Nos. DPR-32 and DPR-37 for Surry Power Station Unit Nos.
1 and 2.
The proposed change would allow movement of a transfer canal door over the spent fuel racks if necessary. A drop analysis of the transfer canal door onto the spent fuel - racks and pool floor indicated that the overall integrity of the spent fuel racks, as well as the spent fuel pool floor, is not compromised.
The report entitled "The Transfer Canal Door Drop Analysis For Surry Units 1 and 2, Revision 2" referenced in the Safety Evaluation is available for review.
The proposed cha~ge has been reviewed and approved by the Station Nuclear Safety and Operating Committee and by the Safety Evaluation and Control Staff.
As indicated in the attached Safety Evaluation it has been determined* that this request does not involve an unreviewed safety question as defined in 10CFR50.59. nor does it pose a significant hazard consideration as defined in 10CFR50.92.
We have evaluated this request in accordance with the criteria in 10CFR170.12.
A voucher check in the amount of $i50 is enclosed as an application fee.
