VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNIT 2 10 CFR 50, APPENDIX 11R" MODIFICATION SCHEDULE Serial No.85-622 EC:RRC:lgt:2005N Docket No. 50-281 License No. DPR-37

_The purpose of this letter is to provide information on the status of certain Unit 2 modifications related to 10 CFR 50 Appendix R.

On November 30, 1984 (Serial No. 692), we submitted schedules for completion of various Appendix 11 R 11 items for Surry Unit Nos. 1 and 2.

This submittal included schedules for modifications to be completed during the Unit 2 summer 1985 refueling outage.

The following commitments listed-in the Surry Appendix-11 R 11 Report Chapter 6 did not meet the specified completion date:

Control Room and Emergency Switchgear Room Ventilation (Section I Item

  1. 10)

A fan, motor operated dampers, pump, and makeup-water cross connect to the evaporative condenser were omitted from the design change (DC-84-66) that provided an alternate train of chillers for Control Room and Emergency Switchgear Room air conditioning.

The design change to correct this oversight is being engineered.

expect to install this modification by the 1986 Unit 2 refueling outage.

Compensatory measures as listed in Chapter 6, Item I.IO, remain in place until the above modification is complete, We will

Emergency Communications System Upgrade and Addition of Paging System (Section I, Item #3)

In the installation of a design change upgrading our emergency communication system (DC-84-63), the quantity of Thermolag purchased for fire coating communications cables passing through the Emergency Switchgear Room was insufficient to complete the job. Additional material was immediately ordered to complete the coating *or these cables.

Installation is expected to be completed by November 1, 1985.

  • Compensatory measures will remain in place until the above modification is complete.
