Dear Dr. Grace:

Docket nos.

~-280 I 5 (r-'2'81"j 50-338 50-339 License nos.

DPR-32 DPR-37 NPF-4 NPF-7 In our letter of September 7, 1984, which was in response to a notice of violation on IE Inspection Report Nos.

50-338/84-19 and 50-339/84-19, we stated that the expected completion date for the revision to the procedures used by the Control Operations Group for testing activities at North Anna and Surry Power Stations was March 31, 1985. Since that time, significant progress has been made toward achieving this goal.

For North Anna Power Station the revision to the procedures have been completed by the Control Operations Personnel to include the items referred to in the violation response. These procedures are now in the review process and are expected to be completed by April 30, 1985. To date 180 out of 228 procedure revisions have been reviewed and approved for implementation.

For Surry Power Station the revisions to the procedures have been completed, and are now in the final review, approval and implementa-tion process.

To date, 104 of 177 procedures have been approved, and the remaining procedures will be approved prior to implementation.

In order that the review and approval process may be completed in a thorough and quality manner, an extension until May 31, 1985 is required.
