DPR-32 DPR-37 SURRY STATION UNIT NOS. 1 and 2 GENERIC LETTER 83-28 ITEM 4.5.3 REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BY THE NRC Your letter of March 13, 1985 requested that we submit a description of the specific implementation plan for Generic Letter 83-28 Item 4.5.3 for Surry Units 1 and 2. Subsequent to receiving your letter we have reviewed topical report WCAP-10271 (Evaluation of Surveillance Frequencies and Out of Service Times for the Reactor Protection Instrumentation System),
WCAP-10271 Supplement 1, the Westinghouse guidelines for proposed changes to the Technical Specifications, and the NRC letter dated February 21, 1985, accepting for referencing the licensing topical report WCAP-10271.
As discussed with Mr. D.
Neighbors of your staff on June 5, 1985, and again on June 10, 1985, additional time is required to thoroughly review and analyze the issues and associated station surveillance records as a basis for any changes.
We are continuing our evaluations and currently anticipate proposing changes to the Technical Specifications.
Our schedule is to send you a description of our specific plans by August 30, 1985. If you have any questions, please contact us.
