NORTH ANNA POWER STATION SURRY POWER STATION RESPONSE SCHEDULE TO GENERIC LETTER 84 SUPPLEMENT Our August 16, 1984 letter (Serial No. 439) provided the projected submittal dates for various information you requested in Generic Letter 84-15 regarding diesel generator reliability. At that time, we stated that we would provide the information requested by Items 2a. and 3b. of the generic letter by January 31, 1985.
However, certain concerns have arisen since that time regarding the frequency of diesel generator testing at North Anna. We are addressing these concerns on a priority basis. They have been the subject of several discussions with your staff, an agenda item at a recent ACRS meeting, and the pending resolution of those concerns will form the basis for a Technical Specification change which we plan to submit in the near future. In addition, our evaluation has developed additional information, not available at the time we projected our submittal dates, that needs to be factored into our response.
Because our resources have focused on evaluating and resolving the diesel generator testing concerns, and because of the additional information developed as a result of that effort, we are unable to submit the information you've requested on the schedule originally proposed. On January 31, 1985, we discussed this matter with both the NRC Surry and North Anna Project Managers and informed them that the information would now be submitted by February 28, 1985. Both project managers found this date to be acceptable.
