DPR-32 DPR-37 SURRY POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 CERTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE TO 10 CFR50.49 On January 11, 1985, Virginia Power received Generic Letter 84-24 regarding the certification of compliance to 10 CFR 50.49. Our compliance to these requirements is stated in our submittal dated January 11, 1985 (Serial No. 286).

In addition, the acceptance of our proposed resolution of the existing environmental qualification deficiences and compliance to 10 CFR 50. 49 will be stated in the Surry Safety Evaluation which is expected in the near future.

Specifically, Virginia Power certifies that Surry Power Station:

(a) has an Environmental Qualification Program that meets the intent of 10CFR50.49 subject to final resolution of the deficiencies identified in the SER.

(b) has at least one path for safe shutdown using equipment that has been qualified under our EQ program or has submitted a Justification for Continued Operation pending full qualification for any equipment not fully qualified.

(c) has, for other equipment presently within the scope of 10CFR50.49, equipment that is environmentally qualified.

Virginia Power further certifies that a program has been established to review and evaluate !E Bulletins and IE Information Notices for relevence to equipment included in the EQ Program. This program provides for the identification and documentation of appropriate corrective action.
