Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Serial No.
403A NO/JDH:lms Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 License Nos.DPR-32 DPR-37 VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 IE INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-280/84-15 AND 50-281/84-15 SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE In our July 20, 1984 response (~s*
- o. 403) to the specific violations of IE Inspection Report Nos. 50-28 84-1
- and 50-281/84-15, we stated that all smoke and heat detectors would be p operly identified, marked and all PT' s changed to preclude the possibility of missed surveillance by September 1, 1984.
In the effort to complete this task, an outside vendor was contracted to not only perform the identification and marking but to review all smoke and heat detector installations for compliance with the Fire Code.
Due to commitments at other facilities, the vendor was unable to complete this task by September 1, 1984.
An in-house effort is presently underway to properly identify the detectors and verify that the correct mark numbers and reference points are contained in the PTs.
This effort will be completed by October 31, 1984, for all detectors in accessible areas.
Inaccessible detectors will be properly identified and verified to be correctly identified in the PTs during the next scheduled outages.
